For a knife that cost me an airplane ticket, I expected a high-quality product. Instead, in less than an year, I had to return my knife for repair. Unless the water in Washington, DC is toxic (which is actually highly likely), my blade started to corrode and form pits in them. I never washed my Shun knife in the dishwasher and I took extra care of my knife because the knife before this purchase was a Cutco knife (which lasted 4 years). Therefore, I wanted to protect my investment and show off my Shun knife on the nice little stand in my kitchen. Instead, I noticed rust on the blade and when I went to wash it off with a rust cleaner, I found out the rust corroded all the way through the blade!!! Even my Cutco knife lasted longer. I've sent my knife back to Shun for repairs and hopefully, the second time around my knife will actually feel like a $200 investment. Get more detail about Ken Onion by Shun 8-Inch Chef's Knife.
