This knife and the Shun brand in general has been one of the most pleasant and consistent experiences of my cooking life. From the box to the block, every single Shun knife has been sharp, balanced and effective. The 6-inch Classic chef is no exception. An occasional and I very much mean occasional pass on a sharpening steel is all any of my "Classic" knives have needed. I have worked over my Henckel's so many times I've exhausted myself. Certainly a bit of an exaggeration, but compared to my Shuns, that's pretty much the truth.
